18: The big reveal

Back at the Potting Shed, Alcock quietly confronts the blinking Juggins, who seems somehow diminished from his previous impressive self: someone with a sponge and a mission.

He gently removes Juggins’ sponge, travel iron and, finally, his rather fine hat. And suddenly all is revealed.

Juggins is Masongill!

It takes a moment for this momentous news to sink in. And so, gentle readers, we should all take a day or so to come to terms with this shocking and utterly unexpected denouement.
