6.2: The new posters in the den
pTravis the pterodactyl, Masongill the mole, and Lottie the teenage axolotl are sitting in their den in the woods looking at the two new posters that seem to have arrived mysteriously. The den was made by pTravis and Masongill one previous summer but Lottie, having discovered it in the last adventure, has decided hat it belongs to her too and it seems that the others, who are a little older than her, are happy enough to share.
“Can I say that I find this a bit weird! Are you sure that neither of you did this to pull my leg?”
This is Lottie in a no-nonsense mood.
“Not me” says pTravis.
“Nor me” adds Masongill. “I’m baffled. Perhaps one of our colleagues is trying to pull our legs?”
“But I’m not sure that anyone in the Potting Shed knows about our den” pTravis exclaims.
“I did!” Lottie insists.
“Yes but you wanted to find such a thing. Other colleagues have better things to do with their time. Frankly, whether they know or not, I don’t think they are that interested in dens hidden in woods. If I’m honest, even ’Gill and I are really a bit too old for dens! I don't really know why we spent so much time building one.”
“Dens!” is Masongill’s thoughtful answer to this.
“We’d need also to think of someone who likes Salvador Dalí. We knew they were by him, didn’t we?”
The others nod, only partially convincingly. pTravis continues.
“Somehow that doesn’t seem to me to fit Hannah, Lois, your tutor, or the Chairman. Etc, etc. None of them seem Dalí-type people!”
“Do you know what the pictures mean? What they’re about? I don’t get them!”
“Well that is something we probably can find out. Lottie, would you show them to your tutor?”
“Better that than boring philosophy!” Lottie agrees.
