15: Finding the 'treasure'

Back at the Potting Shed, Alcock puts a damp towel over his head in order to think better. (If any reader wishes to think more clearly they should do the same and who cares what grown-ups say!)

After steaming his head for a few minutes, it strikes Alcock that the strange images on the treasure map might be how things would look from above. So might the strange shape just by the treasure chest be a... sofa?

Alcock returns alone to the now familiar security booth to review the camera footage of the Big House. After a while he finds a view from a ceiling that looks similar to the map.

If it really is, is that something significant towards the top right corner? He zooms in…

Without waiting for help from the others, he makes his way alone into the now shabby disused stately home and goes from room to room looking for the furniture he has just seen in the video. When he does, he finds that hidden under the arm of  dusty crumbling sofa is an actual chest. And in the chest he finds the Potting Shed savings intact.

It seems that Juggins-the-False has not yet spent the money he has stolen. What is he waiting for? Why steal the breakfast fund but do nothing with it?
