5: But can any of this be real?

Some readers of the previous chapter may have wondered who the person, who was doing her ironing on a human scale ironing board, was. And wasn’t that washing machine simply too large to be part of the creatures’ world? Where do these things fit into the story of the Potting Shed?

And come to think of it, isn’t the Potting Shed itself really an Ikea Duktig toy bed in the story-teller’s bedroom rather than an old wooden building standing hidden behind a thicket in woodland near a disused stately home?

The answer, of course, is that, in stories, all these things are possible at the same time. We will never mention such doubts again. We will pass over every such worry in silence.
